Can negative issues be transformed into opportunities? Invest and trust Mexico

Equipo Tracer

As Mexicans, we trust our country and like to promote it. We hope that the pandemic will gradually recede, and that we will be able to resume the path of growth and business opportunities that Mexico offers to all individuals. Our advantages are very diverse: a reasonable per capita income, a large domestic market, and a young and skilled workforce. With a privileged geographical position, we are the gateway to Latin America, have direct access to the North American markets, as well as maritime routes to Asia and Europe; and of course, we can’t forget the mouthwatering tacos.

Yes, we insist: the opportunities in Mexico are wide and diverse. We have, for example, tourist regions throughout the country, a solid entrepreneurial market with M&A operations in mature areas of Fintech, and we are also exploring to enter other sectors, such as medtech. E-commerce is thriving with about 70% online penetration; there are opportunities in agriculture, in telecom, and in the manufacture of auto parts. Businesses related to fertilizers, health, food, eggs and non-animal protein (such as grasshopper protein) are booming, and there is so much more to explore. In other words, our nearly 130 million inhabitants, our vast territory at the center of everything, our year-round sunshine, represent very diverse opportunities for every individual, under the umbrella of a solid legal framework.

The US-China war over tariffs can benefit us in different ways:

  1. Mexico must identify supply chains between China and the US, and must enter new triangulation schemes as a supplier. The disruption in supply chains and the shortage of semiconductors is another opportunity for some regions of our country to capitalize on mega investments in the Austin, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona areas where Tesla is installed, as well as in the manufacture of chips or semiconductors with Samsung and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp.
  2. Asian companies can use Mexico as an export platform to reach the USA.

iii) The so-called nearshoring is opening opportunities not only in the industrial sector but also in transport logistics, agricultural production (where Mexico is the ninth largest food producer in the world and eighth exporter), as well as in services, tourism, clean energy and telemedicine, among others.
